Describes the safety rules, general safety requirements and
responsibilities to all operators working inside the factory area.
This procedure applies to every person entering the plant area.
HSE – Health, Safety and Environment.
ERT – Emergency Response Team.
PPE – Personal Protective Equipment.
Plant safety and general rules:
1- Smoking is not allowed inside the factory area. Smoking is only allowed in the designated smoking areas.
2- Whenever someone enters the plant area, he will be required to
use all applicable PPE – hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses
and proper clothing.
3- Mobile phones are not allowed into the plant and must be left
in the control room.
4- Any work to be done in the plant will be done according to company
permit to work procedure. It will be the responsibility of the
shift supervisor to issue a permit for all jobs to be done in the

6- Upon hearing the sound of the emergency alarm, all work should
stop and emergency procedures must be followed.
7- Vehicles may only enter the plant area if a vehicle permit is
issued and the vehicle is accompanied by a field operator.
8- Eating food stuffs or drinking any liquid in the plant area is
9- Always wear prescribed PPE when handling chemicals.
10- Whenever working with chemicals ensure to be aware of the risks
and contents of the MSDS.
11- When working with gas cylinders, ensure to store it upright position.
12- Gas cylinders must always be properly fastened to ensure it will
not fall over.
13- Full gas cylinders should be stored separately from empty ones.
14- Ensure to replace empty and used gas cylinders immediately after
15- Empty gas cylinders must be allowed to accumulate on the plant.
When a cylinder is empty it should be taken to stores immediately.
16- It will be the responsibility of each operator to do housekeeping
and ensure his area is clean after completion of any job.
